Much of the world is trending towards plant-based eating — and this global shift could be here to stay.

Plant-based eating may not be entirely mainstream yet. But it’s becoming more accepted every day. We have provided our take on some of the best places we have had a chance to visit during our travels.

 

Temple of Hackney

It’s an old kebab shop, opposite Hackney Central. Genius, vegan version of fried chicken with a very cool mac and cheese on the menu too. Had huge social media attention and queues are often out the door.

A great vegan restaurant that is one to take your meat-eater friends to - a stylish space and varied menu, the Classics section will have something for all and their Afternoon Tea was also a great surprise!

Cook Daily

Located in Shoreditch Boxpark with King Cook at the helm, Cook Daily is one of London's pioneering vegan hotspots and arguably part of the movement in getting Londoner's loving a vegan dish. King Cook's menu is made up of 16 bowls of vegan goodness, we love the High Grade, stir fried vegetables, sweet n sour BBQ sauce, hemp seed crumble served with brown rice - try it!

Ethos

It's self service done really well, a stunning range of food displays, against a very stylish interior. A good spot for a mid-week bite, the menu is predominantly vegan with a few vegetarian options also

Palm Vaults

Millennial pink interiors, hanging plants, colourful coffees and a great selection of cakes and vegan options - it's delicious and you're guaranteed a great pic for Instagram!

OVO

A wonderful place for brunch with beautifully presented light, healthy Middle Eastern inspired flavours. Stand out dishes include ‘Fig, olive and fresh thyme pizza’, ‘Honey, soy and ginger glazed tofu’ and ‘Plum and blackberry tart’

Bad Hunter

They offer a huge smoothie range and delicious salad bowls, that are also - huge! The menu is quite varied, with both vegan and vegetarian options that are packed full of flavour. We also liked their interior, bringing the outdoors in with wonderful plants and a wooden finishing

Club Mexicana

Delicious Mexican-inspired street food - vegan tacos never tasted so good! They've most recently taken up a permanent spot in Homerton's The Spread Eagle pub - get out of Zone 1 and try it!

Le Potager de Charlotte

A hidden gem and great local spot, the Charlotte Potager in Paris 9th is a welcoming setting where you can enjoy a complete vegan and gluten-free menu, all prepared with seasonal products - one of our best finds on a recent trip!

Mildred's

Mildred's is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Soho that is always buzzing and completely delicious. Although you can end up waiting a while for a table, the service is great, and any non-vegetarian friends will have their eyes opened at how many delicious meat free dishes there are around.

The infamous Jean-George moving to explore plant based eating, if in New York then add it to your list - we heard the best time to go was for breakfast and it didn't disappoint, the smoothies were great! We must add, it's not completely vegan however nearly every dish can be made so
